The Bechdel-Wallace Test is a test which has been increasingly adopted by Western filmmakers, studios, critics etc. to measure the
representation of women in film and other works of fiction. For a film to pass the Bechdel-Wallace test, it must satisfy the following
requirements:
A. The film has to have at least two women in it
B. The characters in question have talk to each other
C. The characters in question have to talk about something other than a man
Examples of movies that have passed and failed the test are:
PASSED: Kill Bill, Wonder Woman, Twilight, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty
FAILED: Sex and the City, Breakfast At Tiffany’s, Mulan, Avengers, Lord of the Rings, Pacific Rim, Oppenheimer.
